Antonio Suarez, the brother of Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, is no longer on the shortlist to replace now ex-Assemblyman Vincent Prieto in the lower house, sources said.Â

“There’s no replacement in sight and all sides are scrambling to get one,” one reliable Hudson County Democratic Organization source said regarding Suarez.
While several other members of the HCDO confirmed that the Secaucus Housing Authority commissioner was out of the mix, no one would explain why.
About two weeks ago, Suarez was the frontrunner  to succeed Prieto, who left the Assembly for a $280,000 gig as the head of the state’s Sports and Exposition Authority.
Suarez was seen rubbing elbows with several North Hudson mainstays at Freeholder Chairman Anthony Vainieri’s (D-8) annual winter shindig at the Waterside Restaurant on February 15th, but something significant clearly changed since then.
