On February 8th at approximately 4:22 a.m., the Secaucus PD responded to the Meadowlands Plaza Hotel, located at 40 Wood Ave., on report of an armed robbery, Miller said in a statement.

The suspects, identified as Cristopher Molina Herrera, 30, and Rikelvin DeLeon Diaz, 33, both of Newark, allegedly forced their way into the victims’ hotel room, while stating that they were police officers.

The victims alleged that one of the men pulled out a handgun and threatened to “pistol whip” one of the victims. Herrera and Diaz fled the area with some of the victims’ money and personal belongings.

After a five-month long investigation, members of the Secaucus Police Department Detective Division and Anti-Crime Unit arrested Herrera at his place of employment in Clifton yesterday without incident.

Then earlier today, members of the Secaucus Police Department Detective Division and Anti-Crime Unit arrested Diaz at his place of employment in Elizabeth without incident.

“I am especially proud of the investigative work of my detectives who work tirelessly to solve these crimes committed by individuals who come to Secaucus solely to commit nefarious acts,” Miller added.

“The Secaucus Police Department is committed to exhaust every investigative lead in pursuit of justice for any victim of a crime that takes place in Secaucus.”

Both men were charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, they were processed and then remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
