Prosecutor’s office identifies man murdered in Greenville section of Jersey City on Sunday

Authorities have identified the man fatally shot in the Greenville section of Jersey City early Sunday morning as Laquan Clark, 33, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

On Sunday, at approximately 2:10 a.m., the Jersey City police received a report of a male shot in the area of New Street. Upon arrival, officers found a male sitting in a car in the area of 14 New Street with apparent multiple gunshot wounds, Suarez said in a statement.

The victim, later identified as Clark, of Jersey City, was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center by emergency medical services where he was pronounced dead at approximately 2:40 a.m., officials said.

Friends and family publicly grieved through postings on Clark’s Facebook page.

“I’m setting here looking at our messages I don’t know what to say but I won’t say that i know I’m going to miss you like crazy,” wrote Jessica Richardson.

“My dreams are shattered, my heart is broke Pain so deep I find it hard to cope,” added Butch Mcnasty.

The cause and manner of death are pending an investigation by the state Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the
Jersey City Police Department. No arrests have been made at this time.
