Wilson Sanchez, 36, of Union City, is charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision resulting in death, endangering an injured victim, and obstruction, Mello said in a statement.

He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.

At approximately 8 p.m. on Monday, December 29th the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a possible pedestrian struck on Tonnelle Avenue near North Street. Responding officers located the body of a lifeless man on the northbound side of the road.

The man – later identified as Margarito Avendano-Sanchez, 63, of Hoboken – was pronounced dead at the scene and the striking vehicle did not remain at the scene, authorities said.

  1. … and the legal status is? Union City residence of a person named Wilson give us a clue. Why don’t John Heinis pick up the phone and asks point blank? We know from European stats that illegal aliens are represented tenfold more in violent crimes the natives.
