A 51-year-old Union City man has been charged with sexually assaulting a girl when she was between the ages of six and nine, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Yesterday, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Charles D. Rodriguez, 51, of Union City, on charges that he sexually assaulted a young girl when she was between the ages of six and nine, Suarez said in a statement.
The victim, also a Union City resident, is now 13 years old.
As a result, Rodriguez has been charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City just before 7 p.m. without incident.
Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit for the investigation and arrest.
