On Monday, shortly after 1:00 a.m., a Jersey City Police Department patrol unit was alerted
to an injured female in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Stevens Avenue in Jersey City, Suarez said in a statement.

The woman, a 25-year-old from Bayonne, sustained a laceration on her neck and hand.

She was treated at the scene by the responding officers and Emergency Medical Services before being transported to Jersey City Medical Center, police said.

The initial investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Jersey City Police Department revealed that the woman and the alleged male suspect had agreed to have consensual sex at an unknown location in Jersey City.

This allegedly led to an argument, an alleged sexual assault and an assault with a knife.

Then, shortly after 2:40 a.m., Jersey City police responded to a report of sexual assault in the area of Westside Avenue and Union Street in Jersey City, officials said.

Responding police officers found a woman in that area who alleged that she was a victim of a sexual assault. The woman was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center for medical attention, authorities said.

The initial investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Jersey City Police Department revealed that the woman, a 27-year-old from Jersey City, had contact with a man on Westside Avenue who offered to give her a ride home.

After following him on foot to an unknown area, the man allegedly used a knife to hold her and sexually assault her and detectives are actively investigating both cases.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department. No arrests have been made at this time.
