Prosecutor: Robbery & sexual assault at Jersey City business under investigation

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit is investigating a sexual assault and robbery that occurred inside of a Jersey City business yesterday.

At approximately 8:24 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a 911 call reporting a sexual assault, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.

The 63-year-old victim reported that an unknown man entered a business on West Side Avenue – south of Communipaw Avenue – where he robbed and sexually assaulted her.

The exact location of the assault is being withheld at this time to protect the identity of the victim and the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

This matter is actively being investigated by the HCPO Special Victims Unit (SVU) and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
