Just before 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9th, the North Bergen Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Bergenline Avenue and John F. Kennedy Boulevard East, Mello said in a statement.

Responding officers located an injured man – later identified as Alan Harris, 66, of Hackensack – who had been struck by a NJ Transit bus, which remained at the scene.

The bus was traveling on the No. 84 line from Jersey City to North Bergen when the fatal incident occurred.

Harris was transported to Palisades Medical Center, where he died as a result of his injuries on Wednesday, December 10th.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit assumed control of the investigation yesterday after being notified of the victim’s death.

This matter remains under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit with assistance from the North Bergen PD.
