Prosecutor: Missing Baltimore man’s body found in Hudson River off Pier A in Hoboken

A missing Baltimore man’s body was found in the Hudson River off Pier A in Hoboken yesterday afternoon, prompting a large response from local first responders, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

On Wednesday, at approximately 2:48 p.m., the Hoboken Police Department received a report of a body floating in the Hudson River near the Lackawanna Ferry Station in
Hoboken, Suarez said in a statement.

Responding Hoboken police officers, along with NJ Transit police officers and the Hudson
County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, found the lifeless body as reported.

The body of a male was removed from the water and secured by Hoboken Fire Department Rescue Team members operating a rescue boat.

The deceased has been identified as Jaime Kwebetchou, 27, from Baltimore, Maryland, a man who was reported missing by his family on May 9, 2019. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 3:55 p.m.

The exact cause and manner of death is pending the findings of the Regional Medical
Examiner’s Office.

The Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case with assistance from the Hoboken Police Department.
