Jermaine Adams, 47, is charged with aggravated sexual assault, home invasion burglary, aggravated assault, aggravated arson, making terroristic threats, and criminal restraint, Suarez said in a statement.
Adams was being detained at the Hudson County Correctional Facility on an unrelated matter when the above charges were filed.
The matter was expedited by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office new in-house DNA Laboratory, which produced critical results to assist in the investigation.
Shortly before 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 5th, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a home invasion at a private residence on McAdoo Avenue.
Responding officers located a female victim who reported an unknown man entered her residence through a window before physically and sexually assaulting her. The victim was treated at a local hospital for multiple injuries.
Anyone wishing to report a sex crime should call the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) at 201-915-1234.
Suarez credited the investigation and arrest to the HCPO Special Victims Unit and the Jersey City PD.
