A juvenile who was 14 years old when a fatal shooting in Jersey City claimed the life of a 19-year-old man has been arrested, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

The juvenile has been charged as a such and is accused of murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Suarez said in a statement. He was arrested on Bergen Avenue in Jersey City yesterday.
Juvenile matters are confidential and no additional information can be released at this time.
Shortly before 5 p.m. on October 11th, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of shots fired in the area of Garfield Avenue and Brown Place.
Responding officers located a male victim – later identified as Kashyne Grant, 19, of Jersey City – with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body.
He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment, where he was pronounced dead just after 10 a.m. on Monday, October 14th.
Suarez credited the HCPO Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department with the investigation and arrest.
This is the first homicide in Jersey City since a fatal shooting claimed the life of Resheed Wallace, 24, on May 10th.
City officials and community leaders celebrated no fatalities taking place over the summer, a rare feat, at a press conference on September 23rd.
