The 17-year-old, of Jersey City, is charged as a juvenile with aggravated manslaughter, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon, Suarez said in a statement.
Juvenile matters are confidential and no additional information can be released at this time.
On Monday, December 18th, at approximately 2:20 p.m., an 18-year-old male — later identified as Angel Regalado Guzman of Jersey City — arrived at Jersey City Medical Center in a private vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head.
The incident occurred just a couple hours after U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger joined Jersey City officials for a press conference saying their federal partnership led to a drop in violent crime (12 homicides last year and now 11 this year).
He was pronounced dead shortly before 4 p.m. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death to be homicide.
The investigation determined that the fatal shooting occurred in a residence on Ocean Avenue in Jersey City.
Suarez credited the Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department with the investigation and arrest.
