Prosecutor: Jersey City teen, 17, charged with murder of 15-year-old Devin Bryant

A Jersey City teenager, 17, has been charged with the murder of 15-year-old Devin Bryant last month, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

The teen was arrested by members of the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force with the assistance of the New York City Police Department and the New York City Sheriff’s Office on Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens yesterday, Suarez said in a statement.

He is charged as a juvenile with murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

He is currently in custody in New York pending extradition and his first court appearance. Since juvenile matters are confidential, no additional information can be released at this time.

On Saturday, February 12, 2022, shortly after 8:20 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of 112 Myrtle Ave. on a report of shots fired.

Responding officers found a male victim, later identified as Devin Bryant, 15, of Jersey City, with an apparent gunshot wound to the torso.

He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:10 p.m.
