Prosecutor: Jersey City substitute teacher charged with sexually assaulting 2 students

A Jersey City substitute teacher was charged with sexually assaulting two students yesterday and he has been fired following his arrest, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Fayez Yassa, 64, of Jersey City, is charged with two counts of sexual assault by contact and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Suarez said in a statement.

The alleged crimes occurred at Public School No. 34 on May 15th and he has since been terminated from his position.

He was arrested at his residence and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.

Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the arrest and investigation, with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department and Jersey City Public Schools.
