A Jersey City man, 28, has been arrested in South Carolina for fatally shooting a man, 22, in the area of Stegman Street and Martin Luther King Drive in 2021, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Tybear Miles, 28, of Jersey City, is charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon, Suarez said in a statement.
He was arrested in Spartanburg, South Carolina, by the Spartanburg Police Department in coordination with the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.
He is currently being detained at the Spartanburg County Detention Center as a Fugitive from Justice pending extradition to New Jersey.
On Saturday, June 5th, 2021, at approximately 10:05 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of gunshots fired in the area of Stegman Street and Martin Luther King Drive.
Responding officers located a male victim – later identified as Ahmad McPherson, 22, of Jersey City – with an apparent gunshot wound(s) to the torso.
He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 10:40 p.m.
The Regional Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be gunshot wounds to the torso and the manner of death to be homicide.
Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Jersey City Police Department, and the Spartanburg Police Department with the investigation and arrest.
The HCPO had sought the public’s help in locating Miles back in June 2021.
