Jason Megaro, 27, of Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, and Jenae Vasquez, 20, of Bronx, New York, have been charged by way of indictment with aggravated manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child, Mello said in a statement.

They were arrested in Mount Carmel and Manhattan, respectively, and will remain in custody pending extradition to New Jersey.

On Wednesday, March 25th, the Bayonne Police Department was notified that a 2-month-old injured baby boy was brought to Bayonne University Hospital.

The baby was transferred to University Hospital in Newark and was pronounced dead on Thursday, March 26th.

The Regional Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be complications from blunt force injuries to the head and the manner of death to be homicide.

Mello credited the HCPO Homicide Unit, the Special Victims Unit, the Bayonne PD, the U.S. Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, the U.S. Marshals Service Middle PA Division, and the Mount Carmel Police Department with the investigation and arrests.
