Prosecutor: Authorities seeking shooter who killed 31-year-old Jersey City man

Authorities are seeking the shooter who killed a 31-year-old Jersey City man in the street near 199 Bidwell Ave. last night, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Yesterday at approximately 11:25 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of gunshots in the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Bidwell Avenue, Suarez said in a statement.

Upon arrival, responding Police Officers found a male victim in the street near 199
Bidwell Ave. The victim was later identified as Darrell Rush, 31, of Jersey City, authorities said.

He was found in a lifeless condition with an apparent gunshot wound to his head. Rush was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 11:40 p.m. The cause and manner of death are pending an investigation by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, officials said.

The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the
Jersey City Police Department. No arrests have been made at this time.
