Auditya Ramotar, 69, Leona Ramroop, 58, and Leona Ramroop, 58, all of Ozone Park, New York, were charged with conspiracy to commit insurance fraud.
Additionally, Ramotar is charged with two counts of tampering with records, two counts of identity theft, two counts of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and two counts of insurance fraud.
Auditya and Ramotar were arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office on August 23rd and released on a summons. Ramroop was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office on September 19th and released on a summons.
The investigation found Ramotar, in his role as a licensed insurance provider, fraudulently obtained two life insurance policies for an individual without their consent.
Ramroop, a phlebotomist, generated falsified medical records to support fraudulent claims that would benefit accounts associated with Auditya and Ramotar.
Suarez credited the Insurance Fraud Unit with the arrest and investigation. Anyone wishing to report an insurance related crime should call the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Insurance Fraud Unit at 201-795-6400 ext. 6634.
