The juvenile, 15, of Bayonne, was charged with making false public alarms, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

She was taken into custody on April 29th after being identified as person who “swatted” the elementary school earlier that day.

On Monday at about 9:57 a.m., the Bayonne Police Department responded to the midtown school, located at 550 Avenue A, on a reported threat made against the school.

Officers immediately conducted an investigation into the threat and determined it to be a swatting incident. At no time was the safety of any student, faculty member, or general public at risk.

The incident was immediately investigated by the Bayonne Police Detective Bureau, which resulted in the teenager being identified as the person who called in the false threat.

Authorities did not say if the girl attended the school of about 1,200 students, nor did they disclose the manner of the threat.

“Again, there is no threat to our school at this time and as a precaution the Bayonne Police Department checked the area for any suspicious persons or packages. As always, any threat is taken seriously and we are confident that the perpetrators of this hoax will be caught by law enforcement,” Bayonne Superintendent John Niesz wrote in a letter Monday.
