Police: NY man arrested in Hoboken for stealing tip jar, shatters car windshield with his head

A New York man was arrested in Hoboken for stealing a tip jar from a Washington Street business, breaking the rear windshield of a car with a head butt as he was being searched by police, authorities said.

Daniel Bostick, 24, of New York, New York, was charged with theft and criminal mischief, according to Police Det. Lt. Danilo Cabrera.

Yesterday, at about 1:37 p.m., Officer Jason Montalvo observed a man being chased by another man, with the person being chased found in possession of a plastic jar with money inside.

He was stopped and identified as Bostwick and ascertained that he was being chased by an employee from a local business located on the 100th block of Washington Street. It was alleged that Bostick entered the business and took what was described as a tip jar.

The employee then chased after Bostick until he was stopped by Montalvo. As Bostick was being searched incident to his arrest, he started to yell and struck his head against the rear windshield of a parked car, causing it to shatter.

Bostick was transported to police headquarters and offered medical attention before being charged on a summons and released on a court date, police said.
