A man was busted with a loaded semi-automatic handgun, as well as narcotic paraphernalia, during a Bayonne traffic stop on Saturday evening, police said.

Lawrence J. Lewis, 39, of Newark, was charged with possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a handgun, certain persons not to possess a firearm, possession of prohibited weapons, possession of a large capacity magazine, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia with intent to distribute, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.
He was taken into custody at approximately 10:19 p.m. on Saturday, March 9th from the area of 33rd Street and Avenue C. Officers in the area stopped a 2017 Audi after it was observed traveling at a high rate of speed.
During the investigation, officers recovered narcotic paraphernalia and a 9mm semi-automatic handgun equipped with a large capacity magazine fully loaded with full metal jacket rounds.
During the arrest process, it was also determined that Lewis was categorized as a certain person to not possess weapons and there therefore charged accordingly, authorities said.
Amazing how many dumbass criminals get pulled over for driving like morons. You would think if you have drugs and a loaded gun, you would drive like a saint.
