Lewis, 39, of Newark, was charged with possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a handgun, certain persons not to possess a firearm, possession of prohibited weapons, possession of a large capacity magazine, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia with intent to distribute, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

He was taken into custody at approximately 10:19 p.m. on Saturday, March 9th from the area of 33rd Street and Avenue C. Officers in the area stopped a 2017 Audi after it was observed traveling at a high rate of speed.

During the investigation, officers recovered narcotic paraphernalia and a 9mm semi-automatic handgun equipped with a large capacity magazine fully loaded with full metal jacket rounds.

During the arrest process, it was also determined that Lewis was categorized as a certain person to not possess weapons and there therefore charged accordingly, authorities said.

  1. Amazing how many dumbass criminals get pulled over for driving like morons. You would think if you have drugs and a loaded gun, you would drive like a saint.

  2. This person was unlawfully pulled over, did not have drugs, or drug paraphernalia in the car and the car was illegally searched by dump ass cops and because of everything that happened illegally by the hands of the Bayonne police the case was dismissed.

  3. An unmarked Bayonne narcotics unit pulled over the victim for speeding, but did not have anything to tell how fast the car was going, they followed the car for 30 blocks (racial profiling) stating the driver was unsafe to motorist on the road, so why follow for 30 blocks and not pull them over immediately? These articles don’t ever state all the facts. The police illegally searched the car, there was no drugs or drug paraphernalia, no probable cause to search the car, no reason to pull over the car. Since the dumbass racist Bayonne police department handled things illegally, the case was dismissed. I hope they get sued because Bayonne police violate rights everyday.
