Yesterday at approximately 11:35 a.m., Secaucus Police Officer Jaden Gonzalez was patrolling the area near Red Roof Inn, 15 Meadowlands Parkway, where he observed an occupied black Chevrolet Equinox idling in the parking lot for an extended period of time.

After a brief discussion with the occupants, Gonzalez became aware that Ashley Grant, 38, of Richmond, KY, possessed a handgun within the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver was seized along with some handgun ammunition.

As a result, Grant was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a handgun. She was released by the court pursuant to Criminal Justice Reform, pending her appearance in Court.

“I commend Police Officer Gonzalez’s initiative. All Units and Divisions of the Secaucus Police Department remain committed to proactively policing this Town to make it safer for our residents and visitors alike,” Miller added.

“We will actively pursue the criminal element and bring them to justice, hoping they are held accountable for their crimes.”
