Police: Jersey City woman arrested for trying to break into 6 different cars in Bayonne

A Jersey City woman was arrested for trying to break into six different cars in Bayonne yesterday morning, getting caught after trying to burglarize a black Honda, police said.

Juanita Washington, 35, of Jersey City, was charged with six counts of criminal attempted burglary, according to Police Lt. Eric Amato.

Yesterday around 9:37 a.m., Washington was taken into custody in the area of Avenue C and West 53rd Street.

Officers responded to the area of 51st Street between Avenue B and Avenue C on a report a female attempting to gain entry into multiple parked vehicles by pulling on their door handles, authorities said.

The caller reported observing the female enter a black Honda and flee the area towards Avenue C. This vehicle, occupied by Washington, was located and stopped by officers in the area 53rd Street and Avenue C.

During the on-scene investigation, Washington was positively identified as the actor of the attempted burglaries of 6 vehicles in the area, as observed by the caller, officials said.
