Police: Jersey City man, a fugitive from justice, arrested for shoplifting in Bayonne

A Jersey City man, who was a fugitive from justice for crimes committed in Colorado, was arrested on Friday after getting caught shoplifting nearly $400 worth of merchandise from the Bayonne Walmart, police said.

Dennis Deleon Sanchez, 27, of Jersey City, was charged with shoplifting, being a fugitive from justice and six warrants: two out of North Bergen and four out of Jersey City, according to Police Lt. Eric Amato.

Sanchez was taken into custody around 2 p.m. on Friday after being caught attempting to shoplift $379.48 of merchandise from Walmart, located at 500 Bayonne Crossing Way, authorities said.

During the arrest process, it was learned that he was also a fugitive from justice, wanted out of Adams County, Colorado with full extradition, officials said.

Police did not immediately provide details of what crimes Sanchez was wanted for in Colorado.
