Last night at 7:06 p.m., the Bayonne Police Communications Center reported that a bomb threat at the local ShopRite, located at 583 Avenue C, was called in, according to Police Lt. Janine Foy.

Police were able to trace the call to a pay phone on Broadway and officers simultaneously responded to the pay phone and the ShopRite, officials said.

Two Jersey City Police Department Canine Units conducted a search of ShopRite premises, but the search did not find any danger, authorities said.

Foy added that the scene was not evacuated, but was instead secured by police while the search was underway.

As of today, the caller’s identity is unknown and the incident remains under investigation.
