Rene Prieto, 37, of Bayonne, was charged with larceny and improper license plate display on Saturday around 3:15 p.m. after he was caught driving his grey 2007 Freightliner tractor and trailer through the Bayonne Bridge toll into State Island without paying, according to Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo.

After he was arrested, it was learned he was in possession of $6,900 cash, authorities said.

Additionally, Prieto’s truck, which is owned by KTR Hauler in Perth Amboy, had an obscured license plate. As a result, the truck and trailer were impounded, officials said.
