Rasheem M. Barker, 40, of Bayonne, is charged with attempted burglary, resisting arrest,
hindering apprehension, and contempt for three outstanding warrants, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

Barker was taken into custody at approximately 5:26 p.m. from the area of North Street and Avenue C. Officers patrolling the area observed Barker checking the door handle of a parked vehicle.

As officers made contact with him to investigate, Barker provided a different name to them. The on-scene investigation led to Barker being placed under arrest, he attempted to flee but was stoppedĀ and a struggle ensued as he resisted arrest by swinging his arms.

The officers were ultimately able to subdue him and take him into custody without further incident. During the arrest process, his true identity was determined, authorities said.

This led to the officers learning that he was also wanted on three outstanding warrants: one out of the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, one out of Marlboro, and one out of Clifton.
