Police: Bayonne man arrested for 11 criminal mischief to auto incidents after 8-month investigation

A Bayonne man was arrested for 11 criminal mischief to auto incidents after an eight-month investigation, police said this morning.

Paul C. Campbell, 51, of Bayonne, were charged with 11 criminal mischief to auto incidents (flattened tires) and two aggravated assault incidents (victims stepping on the device), according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

After a lengthy and detailed investigation conducted by the Bayonne Police Department Detective Bureau spanning from September 25th, 2021 thru May 5th, 2022, Campbell was identified as the individual responsible for placing tire deflation devices in the immediate area of Dodge Street, Orient Street, and East 5th Street.

The device is described as a sharp, four-prong metal object designed with the purpose to cause a puncture and deflation to vehicle tires as they drive over it.

On May 5th, 2022 at about 10:01 a.m., detectives arrested Campbell at his residence and officially charged him.
