Two of the juveniles, 15, and 16, were charged with possession of an imitation firearm and the third, 17, was charged with harassment and all are Bayonne residents, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

They were taken into custody Monday at approximately 7:22 p.m. from the area of 7-Eleven, located at 765 Broadway. Officers responded to the store on a report of several juveniles, one with a face mask, threatening to rob the store.

According to the victim, an employee, the group had shoplifted numerous times in the past and on this date, they threatened to shoplift again.

After receiving the threat, and believing that one of the juveniles was possibly concealing a weapon, the employee alerted the police and the juveniles fled the store. During the threat, the 17-year-old took a fighting stance and attempted to fight the employee.

Upon police arrival, a group of five juveniles matching the description provided by the victim was located in the area and detained for investigation. The juveniles were positively identified as the teens involved in the incident inside the store.

During the on-scene investigation, imitation firearms were recovered from 15 and 16 year olds. They were both charged accordingly and the 17-year-old was taken into custody for harassment, authorities said.
