In an editorial, Knitty Gritty JC shares an open letter to U.S. Senator Andy Kim and Cory Booker (both D-NJ), along with U.S. Rep. Rob Menendez (D-8) on the administration of President Donald Trump (R).
Our communities are being terrorized by the unconstitutional freezing of federal funds, by threats of mass deportations of undocumented immigrants, and by the abrupt halt to all diversity, equity and inclusion (“DEI”) initiatives funded by the federal government–and more, just in the first two weeks of this administration.
So many of your constituents are vulnerable to this administration’s cruel actions.
We call upon you to protect the people of New Jersey by standing up and fighting for us against the Trump administration and its enablers in Congress.
Please oppose the confirmation of President Trump’s remaining cabinet nominees, and stand firm against this Administration’s wreckless and unconstitutional attempts to compromise the workings of the Federal government.
We should not seek common ground with an Administration that is threatening programs like Medicaid, vital agencies like FEMA, and that is taking funds from the middle class to give the wealthiest.
All of this must be met with a firm “no.” In the weeks and months ahead, we are counting on you to be a consistent voice—and vote—of opposition.
We need a path forward that pushes for a future that is inclusive and prosperous, which solves the real issues facing people in Hudson County and beyond: housing affordability, climate change, immigrant rights, LGBTQ rights, voting rights, and many more.
Sincerely,
Jamie Wilson Murray

For the Knitty Gritty JC Social Club, a women-led pro-democracy group that has hundreds of members in Hudson County.
I think with the resounding support for Trump nationally and the huge shift in North Hudson and Kearny Bayonne, the progressives of JC should realize that wealthy white liberal cat ladies do not represent the majority Hispanic working class county. Save your socialism for yourselves.
A 49.9%plurality ( not majority) win over Harris’ 48.3% vote total is not a resounding win. Since you know so much about ‘socialism’ ask him to save Social Security. It is ‘ working class’ folks like you who abdicated personal responsibility to be informed on issues that truly matter, that delivered the presidency to a man who puts himself ahead of you and I.
Preach.
Hudson County voted 62% for Harris. Get a grip.
D+ 46 to D+24 in just four years! Great job I guess…
Wait till your orange boy tanks the economy and it goes right back to +50.
NJ DEPT OF D.O.G.E is on the way and look out, the best is yet to come.
No one, not any mayor or congressman nor senator has made an impact on reducing rent !
Jimmy McMillian said it best.
1… 2… 3… FLUSH!!!
So you refer to “the rents are too damn high” guy. Sounds like you would actually be an anti- Trumper if only you watched and read media resources which report the news without fear or favor. When has Trump the developer lowered rents fir any tenants on his properties. When did he lower rents for anyone in his first term? If you are truly concerned about high rents, you are probably not in the tax brackets that Trump rewarded in his first term with lower taxes. Just as Hitler was depicted as descending in his airplane from the clouds in arguably the most significant propaganda film ever made, Triumph of the Will, a title, Hitler, as producer coined, Trump NO DOUBT copied that scenario when he staged the rollout of his 2016 campaign, except that the downward escalator replaced the plane.
I happen to be Christian just not Trump’s fake brand of Christian veneer. Jesus said:”Whatsoever you do to the least of My People, that you do unto me.” You know in your heart that this is not Trump’s style. Our Constitution states there shall be no establishment of Religion ( created or favored) by our Government, yet Trump’s executive order of Feb. 6, 2025, strongly suggests that only Christianity needs to be protected by our Government. Trump has praised Hitler in the past. Elon Musk gave the Nazi salute to the DC arena crowd multiple times in a speech on day of Trump’s 2nd Innauguration. Resist, my friend, Resist.,.
