NY Waterway to provide expanded ferry service during Hoboken PATH closure

New York Waterway will provided expanded, cross-honored ferry service during the 25-day Hoboken PATH closure that starts tomorrow, officials said.

“We’re pleased to partner with PATH to provide continued, convenient service for commuters to and from Manhattan during this construction period,” NY Waterway President and CEO Armand Pohan said in a statement.

“We share a commitment to ensuring safe, reliable and pleasant travel experiences for all of our ferry passengers.”

Every PATH customer must have the special, discounted, one-way, three-dollar ticket to ride the ferry.

The ticket is valid for Hoboken NJT Terminal & Hoboken 14th Street to all three Manhattan terminals: Midtown, Brookfield Place and Pier 11/Wall Street for PATH customers.

Three dollar tickets can only be purchased on the NYW App and at NYW Ticket Counters and are not available at NYW Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) or onboard).

At boarding, customers must show PATH fare card payment mechanism – a SmartLink Card, MetroCard, PATH Single Ride Ticket or digital pass in the RidePATH app, plus the three-dollar  Special NYW Fare Ticket.

No additional discounts apply to the three-dollar ferry ticket, which are non-refundable. Tickets expire on February 24th at 11:59 p.m.

Additional peak period ferry service departing every 10 minutes from the PATH/NJ TRANSIT station ferry terminal to Midtown Terminal (West 39th St at 12th Ave).

Expanded NY Waterway crosstown bus service from Midtown/West 39th Street terminal, along with extended operating hours until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 12 a.m. on Friday and Saturday at both Hoboken terminals.

There will also be an additional weekend route, offering service to Midtown/West 39th Street from both Hoboken terminals.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has announced the PATH Hoboken station will be closed from 11:59 p.m. Thursday, January 30th, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, February 25th, as part of the agency’s two-year $430 million PATH Forward program.
