“Yes, Pete Fasilis is retiring at the end of the month. Rob Farley, who is a longtime member of a family that have given their lives to law enforcement in North Bergen, will become the new chief – he’s a town resident,” Sacco said on last week’s episode of HCV Live & Uncut.

“He’s [Fasilis] has done a marvelous job. The morale is extremely good and we’re completely certified, we went through the process again and things are really moving really well. Morale is good and I think that people think police are more friends than they are law enforcement.”

Fasilis was sworn in back in May 2020 and has been credited with keeping crime rates low as the department has expanded to 154 officers during his tenure.

Farley, a deputy chief since 2020, has been with the department for approximately 27 years and follows in the footsteps of his father, Robert Farley, Sr., who retired as a deputy chief.

The incoming chief, who will assume the role on February 1st, is also a lifelong resident of the township.
