Sarju Patel, 39, of North Bergen, has been charged with stalking, cyber-harassment, and harassment, Musella said in a statement.

On Monday, January 29th, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at his residence during a stalking investigation.

The investigation revealed that Patel created social media accounts which utilized numerous vanity names in the likeness of the victims, posted photographs of the victims, “checked-in” online at various locations associated with the victims and their family members, and sent physical letters to the workplace of one of the victims, placing the victims and their families in fear of physical and/or emotional harm.

Patel was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.

Musella thanked the North Bergen Police Department, Bergenfield Police Department, Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, and New York City Police Department for their assistance, as well as the Paramus, Saddle Brook, Englewood, and Washington Township Police Departments, which participate in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
