A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Hudson-Bergen Light Rail train this evening in Jersey City, NJ Transit confirmed in a tweet.

The woman, whose identity has not been released by authorities, was struck at around 4:30 near the Exchange Place station, according to an NJ Advance Media report.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is under investigation by the NJ Transit Police.
Light rail service has been suspended between Jersey Ave and Harsimus Cove, NJ Transit tweeted.
HBLR service is suspended between Jersey Ave and Harsimus Cove due to a trespasser fatality at Exchange Place.

On Christmas Day, NJ Transit identified the victim as Shannon Flood, 43, of Bloomingdale. No further information was available.
