“We are extremely proud to announce our Bayonne City School District has been declared by the New Jersey Department of Education as one of the HIGH PERFORMING school districts in New Jersey,” Superintendent of Schools John Niesz wrote in a letter on Monday.
” … The Hudson County Executive County Superintendent and team conducted a review of the school district’s self-assessment on the District Performance Review (DPR) document to verify the school district’s compliance with all five areas of NJQSAC (New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum).”
He further stated that the district was recognized as “high performing” in five categories: instruction and program, fiscal management, governance, as well as operations and personnel.
“We thank all of you for your commitment to our efforts to provide all of our children in Bayonne with an amazing education. This acknowledgement by the New Jersey Department of Education is a testament to all of our teachers, support staff, administrators and our Board of Education members,” he concluded.
“With the commitment from our Board of Education we are able to offer a great education for all of our learners. On behalf of Board of Education President Jodi Casais and our Board of Education members, congratulations Bayonne.”
The announcement came just one day before Casais was convincingly re-elected as part of the latest incarnation of the “Together We Can” banner alongside Trustees Melissa Godesky-Rodriguez and Pamela Sclafane.
They were each elected to another three-year term on the volunteer board, with former Trustee Michael Alonso, the only other candidate on the ballot, finishing in a distant fourth place, according to the Hudson County Clerk’s Office.
