Man charged with DUI for causing Bayonne 3-car crash, passenger found with prescription drugs

A man was charged with driving under the influence for causing a three-car crash in Bayonne, with his passenger taking responsibility for a bottle of prescription drugs, police said.

Moustafa M. Moustafa, 19, of Jersey City, was charged with DUI, while Omar Ahmed, 23, also of Jersey City, was charged with possession of a prescription legend drug, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

They were taken into custody at about 8:57 p.m. on Saturday from the area of 48th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard. Officers patrolling the area observed a motor vehicle crash involving three vehicles.

There, they made contact with all involved parties and determined that the vehicle Moustafa had been operating caused the crash. While investigating the crash, Moustafa exhibited signs of being under the influence of an intoxicant.

As a result, he was placed into custody for DUI. As the investigation continued, a quantity of 249.5 pills of a prescription legend drug were recovered, to which the passenger of Moustafa’s vehicle, Ahmed, claimed ownership of.

He was subsequently arrested and charged accordingly, authorities said.
