Yassine Rahi, 18, of Bayonne, was charged with robbery and theft for deception for a March 26th incident in Guttenberg, Ramadanovic said in a statement.

On March 26th, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division received a report of a robbery that occurred at the corner of 68th Street and Park Avenue.

Immediately, detectives from the Guttenberg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau initiated a criminal investigation, which spanned the course of approximately a week.

The criminal investigation uncovered links to the same individuals, organizing and executing planned robberies, across multiple jurisdictions in Hudson and Bergen County.

In these instances, the suspects utilized Facebook Marketplace and arranged to “sell” a PlayStation 5 to their victims.

Due to the span of the investigations, the Guttenberg Police Department, Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Moonachie Police Department, and the Ridgefield Park Police Department began a coordinated investigation, leading to the arrest of Rahi.

As the result of the criminal investigation, he was charged with the aforementioned offenses and remanded to the Bergen County jail following his arrest, awaiting a detention hearing.

If anyone has any information pertaining to this incident, they are encouraged to contact the Guttenberg Police Department at 201-868-3300 or email Det. Sgt. Marcin Rysiec at mrysiec@guttenbergpolice.org.
