A lockbox with rent checks was broken into at the Hoboken Housing Authority office lobby early this morning, Executive Director Marc Recko wrote to residents.

“Dear residents, the HHA office lobby was broken into in the early hours of this morning, Monday April 1st. The perpetrator pried open the lockbox in which you deposit your rents,” Recko wrote in a letter posted on the HHA website.

“If you deposited your rent in our mail chute between 2:00PM on Saturday, March 30th and 7:00AM on April 1st, please place a stop payment on that payment.”

Recko continued that checks can be issued a stop payment at the bank, while money orders can issue a stop payment at the location where the order was issued. He also apologized for the inconvenience.
