In a letter to the editor, Jersey City resident Angel R. Rodriguez explains why he’s supporting Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea (D-2) for mayor.

Dear Editor,
I am writing to highlight Bill O’Dea’s longstanding commitment to Jersey City and his transformative impact on our community as he runs for Mayor in 2025.
For over 30 years, Bill O’Dea has been a relentless advocate for the people of Jersey City, championing affordable housing, economic development, and responsible governance.
His leadership began in 1985 as the youngest elected City Council member, where he secured critical funding to remediate the PJP Landfill, making our environment safer for future generations.
Since 1997, as a Hudson County commissioner, O’Dea has fought tirelessly to protect homeowners from rising taxes, opposed wasteful spending, and stood up against political patronage.
His efforts have resulted in the development of over 1,000 affordable housing units, ensuring that hardworking families can continue to call Jersey City home.
Beyond public office, his leadership at the Elizabeth Development Company earned national recognition, proving his ability to drive economic growth and create opportunities.
His deep commitment to education is evident through his decades of support for Jersey City educators, including his solidarity during the 1998 and 2018 teacher strikes.
Now, as he embarks on his campaign for Mayor under the banner “Our City, Our Choice,” O’Dea is bringing together a diverse team dedicated to making Jersey City a safer, more affordable, and community-driven city.
His campaign has gained strong grassroots and labor support, a testament to the trust he has built over the years.
Jersey City needs a leader with integrity, experience, and a real commitment to the people. Bill O’Dea is that leader.
As the election draws closer, we encourage residents to learn more about his vision and how he plans to continue serving the city he has dedicated his life to.
Best regards,
Angel R. Rodriguez
