Dear Editor,

I’ve come to learn the City of Jersey City will be involved with trying to implement marijuana reforms in collaboration with various officials throughout the state

While I applaud this initiative, I am hoping we can do more towards steps to legalize marijuana.

I had the opportunity to do my senior thesis on the decriminalization of marijuana versus the legalization of marijuana and did a deep analysis. In order to really achieve economic and social justice, the legalization of marijuana is needed.

I’m hoping our state legislature and Governor Murphy can soon work together to achieve this goal for the State of New Jersey.

For the 31st Legislative District, I fully support legalizing marijuana. While decriminalizing is a good step, there is much more work to be done.

I’m looking forward to seeing the progress between the city, Chief Prosecutor Jake Hudnut and the State of New Jersey.
