In a letter to the editor, Hoboken 5th Ward Councilman Phil Cohen, the council vice president, explains why he believes Mayor Ravi Bhalla and Katie Brennan are the best choices for state Assembly in the 32nd Legislative District.

Dear Editor,

Early voting is underway in the LD-32 Democratic Primary, and I’m proud to endorse Mayor Ravi Bhalla and Katie Brennan for state Assembly.

I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Mayor Bhalla here in Hoboken, where his leadership has been nothing short of transformational.

Whether it’s advancing Vision Zero to make our streets safer or securing long-term flood protections, Ravi has consistently delivered bold, effective, values-driven solutions.

As the only Hoboken candidate in this race, Ravi understands our community’s needs—and he’s ready to bring that same energy and independence to Trenton.

Katie Brennan is a powerhouse on New Jersey housing policy who has already led impactful reforms to expand access to affordable housing. She’s a results-oriented advocate who backs up her passion with hard work and deep expertise.

We need voices like hers in the Assembly—especially at a time when housing and transit are defining issues for our region.

Early voting is open now through Sunday, June 8. It’s simple, convenient, and available to all Hudson County voters, regardless of where you live.

Hoboken’s early voting site is at City Hall (94 Washington Street). You can also vote at sites throughout Jersey City and the county. No appointment is necessary.

If you believe in housing justice, smarter transit, and clean, responsive government, vote for Ravi Bhalla and Katie Brennan—either during early voting or Primary Day, Tuesday June 10.

Thank you for voting,

Phil Cohen
Hoboken City Council Vice President
