Yesterday, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Ali Ibrahim, 19, of Jersey City, on charges relating to the sexual assault of a teenage girl he met online, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.
The crimes occurred at Ibrahim’s Jersey City apartment in January and February of this year when the victim was 13 and 14 years old.
Ibrahim is charged with second-degree sexual assault and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child. He was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
The prosecutor’s office has filed a detention motion, which is tentatively scheduled to be heard on March 4th.
Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest. Anyone wishing to report a sex crime should call the HCPO SVU at 201-915-1234.
