A Jersey City juvenile who was 17 years old when he fatally shot a 20-year-old man about 13 months ago is going to prosecuted as an adult, Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello announced.

Naheim King, now 18, of Jersey City, is charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Mello said in a statement. King was 17 at the time of the offense.
Shortly before 8:30 p.m., on Friday, January 3rd, 2025, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a shooting in the area of Lembeck Avenue and Old Bergen Road.
A male victim – later identified as Rahmiere Morris, 20, of Jersey City – was located with an apparent gunshot wound to the torso. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:35 p.m.
The HCPO Homicide Unit and the Jersey City PD were previously credited with the investigation and arrest.
