Jersey City juvenile, 17, charged with shooting death of Bayonne teen, 17

A 17-year-old boy from Jersey City has been charged with the shooting death of a Bayonne juvenile, also 17, on Sunday, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 21st, the Bayonne Police Department and the Bayonne Fire Department were notified of an unresponsive male inside an apartment at 124 West Third St., Suarez said in a statement.

The male – later identified as John Dominguez, 17, of Bayonne – was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Bayonne Medical Center. He was pronounced dead just after 3 p.m.

Yesterday, the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the torso and the manner to be homicide.

Following the report by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit arrested a 17-year-old Jersey City male.

He is charged as a juvenile with manslaughter, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Juvenile matters are confidential and no additional information can be released at this time.
