Prosecutor’s office investigating homicide in Bayonne after woman fatally shot in face


The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a Bayonne homicide after a woman was fatally shot in the face early this morning.

“The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is responding to 484 John F. Kennedy Boulevard in Bayonne to investigate the fatal shooting of a female. More information to follow,” the HCPO tweeted at 6:31 a.m. this morning.

According to sources with knowledge of the situation, who spoke under the condition of anonymity since they were not authorized to speak on the matter, gun fire erupted shortly after 5 a.m. that resulting in a woman being shot in the face.

This afternoon, sources identified the shooter as Anthony Shuler, 28, of Jersey City, was acquitted of a 2010 murder last year.

Shuler was apprehended at approximately 6:30 a.m. this morning, shortly before the HCPO sent out their tweet.

No further details regarding the circumstances of the shooting have been made available as of early Sunday evening.
