Lyons began by talking about his history on the board and his background in education.

He followed up by answering if Jersey City Public Schools should be preparing children for college or career.

Lyons, a member of multiple teachers unions, spoke about the politics surrounding the JCEA not endorsing the entire JCPS: Children First slate.

Lyons also spoke about public education in Jersey City, and said he would work to bring the business community and Jersey City Public Schools together to train students for the future labor needs within the city.
