The Jane Fonda Climate PAC is endorsing Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla and his running mate Katie Brennan for state Assembly in the 32nd Legislative District.

“As Republicans in Washington wage a dangerous assault on clean energy, our mission to elect bold climate champions at all levels of government is more vital than ever,” said Jane Fonda, the PAC founder, said in a statement.
“Katie Brennan and Ravi Bhalla are exactly the kind of climate leaders we need. They’re fearless, justice-driven, and deeply committed to climate action. Katie and Ravi know how to get things done, and I know they will bring bold, innovative leadership to the New Jersey Assembly that puts people and the planet first before Big Oil and corporate special interests.”
Brennan served as founding director of New York’s Office of Resilient Homes and Communities, overseeing climate adaptation projects that combined housing affordability with environmental protection.
JanePAC praised her record, calling Brennan “a policy powerhouse who has taken on political machines, corrupt systems, and climate change.”
“Climate change isn’t just an environmental issue — it’s a housing issue, an economic justice issue, and a matter of basic fairness,” Brennan added.
“I’m proud to have the support of the Jane Fonda Climate PAC. They get that real climate action requires elected officials who aren’t afraid to take on the fossil fuel industry and their political allies.”
Hoboken received an “A” rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project and becoming the first in New Jersey to establish a Department of Climate Action & Innovation.
Bhalla also made Hoboken the first city in New Jersey to sue big oil companies for climate change damages.
“I’m running to put our communities and our planet first, not the interests of fossil fuel companies and their lobbyists,” he stated.
“That’s what I’ve always done as mayor, and that’s what I’m ready to do in the Assembly. We need to act on climate change right now. We can’t wait for the party bosses’ permission.”
Brennan and Bhalla are campaigning on a platform that includes passing the Climate Superfund Act to make polluters pay for climate damage, stopping the $10.7 billion Turnpike expansion that would increase emissions and traffic, and investing in green infrastructure that creates union jobs while protecting frontline communities.
Both candidates have pledged to refuse contributions from fossil fuel companies and have taken the Food & Water Action pledge to reject fossil fuel money.
They also noted that Jennie Pu and Crystal Fonseca, who have the support of the Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO), have accepted large donations from contractors and organizations supporting the Turnpike widening project.
The June 10th primary also features Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez and Jersey City Ward D Councilman Yousef Saleh, who are running on Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s “Democrats for Change” ticket, in LD-32.
