The 33rd Legislative District features state Senator Brian Stack (D-33), who is also the Union City mayor which is in the district, is seeking re-election alongside former North Bergen Commissioner Julio Marenco and ex-West New York Mayor Gabriel Rodriguez.
That ticket, along with County Commissioner Fanny Cedeno (D-7), the Union City candidate, is unopposed.
Jersey City, which has at least two competitive commissioner races in the 4th and 5th Districts (though the 5th also includes all of Hoboken) – Commissioner Yraida Aponte-Lipski vs. Mamta Singh and Commissioner Chair Anthony Romano vs. Ron Bautista – saw 1,123 ballots cast.
Bayonne, which is part of the 31st Legislative District where Michael Griffin is looking to beat Assemblywoman Angela McKnight for a state Senate seat and Shanelle Smith wants to upset Barbara Stamato or Assemblyman Will Sampson, saw 287 votes cast.
West New York was right behind them with 263 votes cast.
Hoboken, which is part of the new 32nd Legislative District where Assemblyman Raj Mukherji is running for state Senate alongside John Allen and Jessica Ramirez – who are seeking the two Assembly seats – had 172 ballots cast.
