“The Hudson County Central Labor Council is proud to endorse Bill O’Dea in recognition of his dedication to working men and women and his record of public service and standing up for union labor,” Hudson County CLC President Cristino Vilorio said in a statement.
“Our members will be pounding the pavement and working hard to elect Bill O’Dea as the next Mayor of Jersey City over the next four weeks.”
The other labor unions backing O’Dea for mayor include the Hudson County Building and Construction Trades Council, the Jersey City Education Association, 32BJ SEIU (they also endorsed Ward E Councilman James Solomon), District 1199J, Teamsters Local 560, Jersey City Municipal Employees Local 245, and IATSE Local 59.
“I’m grateful to Cristino Vilorio and all the affiliate members of the Hudson County Central Labor Council for their support for our campaign, especially the Hudson County Building Trades, who have been with us since day one,” O’Dea added.
“I’m running for Mayor to stand up for every neighborhood in our city and make it more affordable for the working class, and today’s endorsement from the Hudson CLC brings us even more momentum as we get closer to Election Day.”
The non-partisan November 4th contest also includes former Gov. Jim McGreevey, Council President Joyce Watterman, ex-Board of Education President Mussab Ali, Police Officer Christina Freeman, and Kalki Jayne-Rose.
