Hudson County is adding a “Kids Fun Run” to their 5th Annual Strides for Safety 5K Against Gun Violence hosted at Jersey City’s Lincoln Park next month, County Executive Craig Guy announced.

The Kids Fun Run will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19th.
“The Hudson County Strides for Safety 5K is about coming together as a community to build safer neighborhoods for everyone, and that includes our youngest residents. We’re excited to welcome children ages 5 to 12 to our first-ever Kids Fun Run and give them a chance to be part of this important day,” Guy said in a statement.
“When our children see their parents, neighbors, first responders and community leaders standing together for safer communities, they learn that they have a role to play too. We want every generation to know that building a safer Hudson County is something we do together.”
The Strides for Safety 5K features a USATF-Certified course that has has served as an opportunity for Hudson County residents to come together, honor the importance of community safety, and strengthen the partnerships needed to address gun violence.
The day will continue after the race with an after-party featuring live music, food and activities for children, giving families and participants an opportunity to celebrate together and keep the spirit of community going beyond the finish line.
Residents are encouraged to register now for the 5K, and families are invited to sign their children up for the free Kids Fun Run.
